Custom collegiate clothing for schools and student associations.

The idea for U.P. Originals goes back to when two of our founders were high school friends in Finland and went to the United States as exchange students at the same time. They often talked about how different school spirit felt there and the part clothing played in it. In the hallways, it was common to see students in sweatshirts and hoodies with their school’s name or logo. Seeing those clothes every day gave students a sense of belonging to the wider school community, beyond their own circle of friends.

Today, we help schools and student associations build that same sense of belonging by creating a clothing collection of their own. We use each school’s or association’s own name and emblems to create distinctive embroidered designs for a range of garments. Our signature embroidery pairs the soft, raised loops of chenille with smooth satin stitching, giving each design depth and crisp detail.

We set out to make school clothing you’ll love from the first wear, with timeless designs and the quality to last well beyond graduation. The sweatshirt you reach for most as a student might one day be your favourite vintage piece, full of memories.

Before U.P. Originals, even a basic school sweatshirt order could mean days of work for a student committee. They had to compare local print shops, choose a supplier and work out the design and details themselves. Then came the hassle of collecting everyone’s sizes and payments. After all that, they could still end up with mediocre sweatshirts with a cheap-looking print that few students wanted to buy or wear. With U.P. Originals, the committee gets a complete, ready-made collection to approve. We handle the design, production, orders and delivery. Students choose their style and size and pay directly through a dedicated online shop.

From the start, we saw the potential to serve schools and student associations across Europe. We set up our own production facility in Lithuania with that ambition in mind. A student committee can start a tradition this year, and we make it easy for next year’s students to carry it on.
